Atita Taware was born in 1984 in Bhiwandi, India. She received her MFA from Sir J.J School Of Arts, Mumbai in 2012 and her BFA from Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College Of Fine Arts, Pune in 2010. She has participated in numerous group shows throughout India and in 2013 had her first solo exhibition, "Biophilia”, Kunsth Jung Hus , Rapperswill, Switzerland. Her art practice includes surveys, researches about biodiversity in India, actual field work in forests and protected areas with help of various NGOs and Forest department in India. Field work involves activities like census, GPS mapping for forest fire prevention and spreading awareness to prevent men leopard conflict. She develops her artwork based on such field work experiences and her personal response to the current situation in India.
Being a farmer’s daughter, she enjoys observing nature. She likes to observe the interactions between living organisms, flora and fauna, as they depend on each other to survive. She states, “There is a delicate bond between them and this amazes me. I feel that all living forms communicate to each other in a very different and magical way”.
