Artist Statement
A seminal 2015 painting by the acclaimed 'Father of Performance Art' of Myanmar. Exhibited in his critical exhibition of 2015 in Singapore, the exhibition catalogue cover features this artwork. Much has been written about Aung Myint's red and black paintings, the symbolism, his espousal of these two colours and the personal meanings and freedom of expression that is imbued in the red and black artworks.
This "Call of Death" is perhaps one of his free-er, abstracted works that is also among his most macabre.
