About the art
Artist statement
A textural study and the first piece in my Meridian sculpture series that also includes "Weathering the Storm" and "Antiguo".
The texture was beaten into the clay in a rhythmic and meditative way as the sculpture was built. The brass bands were added after the piece was fired to break-up the texture and add visual points.
