This painting is part of a series created during the pandemic lockdown. The tropical colors and fun organic shapes were created as an escape, kind of like a lyrical forest that the viewer can get lost in.

Based in: Los Angeles, CA
I was born and raised in New York, I moved to Los Angeles in 1985 where I currently live and work. I've been creating art for over forty years. I studied art at Parson's School of Design and I was a member of the prestigious Art Student's League located in NYC in the mid-seventies. My work is heavily influenced by the abstract expressionist movement that exploded onto the art scene in the late 50s and early 60s. My work is energetic and frenetic. I create as I go. I try to become a vessel to something greater than myself. For me painting is a spiritual experience. I try to create a subliminal language with each stroke, an iconography of sorts. Similar to the hieroglyphs found in the ancient tombs of Egypt. My work is both modern and ancient at the same time. This is the yin and yang of what I do.
