Assemblage #8 is part of an oil-pastel drawing series studying the composition of various shapes, bodies, and objects in small ecosystems. c.a. walac. uses automatic drawing to search and generate shapes and compositions for both functional and non-functional works. From instinctive shadows and blurry apparitions in the fog, she lets the familiar emerges from its own oddity.
Hometown: Le Cannet
Based in: Glasgow, United Kingdom
While chasing abstract domesticity and industrial surrealism, Walac focuses on deploying theatricality in spaces through materials and shapes. Her work spans sculpture, drawings, furniture, installations, and poetry. She is interested in the living relationship between the body, architecture, and objects/furniture. Both organic and geometric, her works convene playful darkness and engage shadows in layers of existentialism.
c.a. walac. received an MFA from ENSAPC (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris Cergy) in 2015 where she studied Sculpture and Installation and a Research MFA from University Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne in 2014 where she explored the concepts of space and place in contemporary art.
