Artist statement
This painting derives from an original concept called Business Class. That piece depicted two boxers fighting in a ring. Both fighters were dressed in business attire.
Lightweight portrays a single figure, dressed like a businessman, with boxing gloves and headgear.
The figure is painted on a densely saturated background (a mixture of yellow, red and blue creates the dark setting) and is filled with specks of white, imitating the night sky.
The boxer floats in space creating an entrancing visual and dialogue about the white-collar worker.
