Artist Profile
Born: 1998
Hometown: Madrid
Based in: Australia
Carlota Perez De Castro has been surrounded by artists and creatives her whole life, the artistic family background she has grown up in, has most certainly added to her passion. She is currently striving to emerge herself in a demanding profession where the artist has learnt to value her own skill set, defined by her interdependent personality which has enabled her to explore at such a young age, the artist is keen and ready to share her work with the rest of the world. Carlota took up interior design at IADE school of design where she benefitted from an intense degree in something she also loves, it unequivocally inspired her fashion brand Batulele which played with the idea of sourcing a range of different cloths and textiles from Indonesia.
So far no regrets.... Carlota has enjoyed the journey which has lead her here and has never underestimated the decisions she has taken as she believes everything will lead you to something, it’s up to you to look a little harder and find that one thing that captures your attention for the rest of your life. After her time at university, Carlota was sure she had to change some things, leave her comfort zone, her beloved city, Madrid. It had given her everything, included friends and family, however and new environment and culture to keep her curiosity hungry, was inevitable.
Choosing to disrupt any plans and arrangements, a no holds barred trip was Carlota’s next step, spending a year immersing herself in Australian culture, as a temporal presence, Carlota has felt deeply inspired by her time spent in her beloved Byron Bay. Though holding many traits, Carlota has always enjoyed painting the most, a method which had become overshadowed with time, as the artists curiosity maneuvers itself through different fields.
The trip to Australia, which the artist will always hold close to her heart, allowed her to focus on painting and implement aspects of her own characteristics, her personality, her instinct and perception of life. As Carlota continues to understand more about herself and the creative projects she chooses to execute, her current focus lies in sharing the essence of the many places she has visited and will continue to visit and explore.
