Artist Statement
Finding balance, harmony and unity in shapes and colors is my goal when I create my paintings. I start by thinking about the compositions and I elaborate small sketches that I call "skeletons" because it is the backbone of my work.
This is an abstract and graphic composition, whose main forms are a succession of different layers of red pigments that give the work a great luminosity. The background is worked in soft and vaporous tints that contrast with the geometric forms and the black writings or lines.
Linen canvas, stretched on a square wooden frame.
The work is worked in mixed media: oil, acrylic, pigments, ink. A matt anti-UV varnish protects the painting.
The edges of the painting are painted in a very light grey color.
The hanging on the back of the painting (steel wire attached to two pegs screwed into the frame) allows an immediate and safe hanging.

Artist Profile

Finding balance, harmony and unity in shapes and colors is Cécile Valle's challenge when she creates her paintings. She starts by thinking about the compositions and she makes small sketches that she call "skeletons" because it is the backbone of her work.
Giving sense to a glance and let it chose the interpretation. Through symbols, let minds define. Let gestures be free and spontaneous in a composed and reassuring chronology. Take a step backwards to look closer.
Cécile Valle is a professional painter graduated from an advertising communication school and a graphic art school for four years. She also studied six years in the Toulouse studio of the famous french calligrapher Kitty Sabatier.
After her studies Cécile Valle created a graphic design studio in Toulouse and Paris and realized projects for communication agencies and large companies while pursuing her pictorial research. At the same time, she gives courses to adults and children in media libraries, schools or cultural centres. In 2004, Cécile decided to devote herself exclusively to painting, becoming aware of her need to paint. Her work is present in many private collections in France and abroad.
