Artist Statement
This work is part if the ‘imagery’ series. It is named after a 2017 animated film about a 12-year-old boy who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased great-great-grandfather to return him to the living and to reverse his family's ban on music. The colors in this painting visualise this narrative. The yellow and orange reflect heroism, succes and happiness, while black represents the mystery regarding the land of the dead.
