Artist Statement
This work is part of the 'imagery'series. It is named after a 2019 documentary about the failed Fyre Festival, also known as 'The greatest party that never happened". It was supposed to be a luxurious music festival on the Bahamian Islands, but appeared to be a fraud. This event was promoted on instagram by several social media influencers, thus the story can be considered as a warning for the misleading power of social media.
This painting visualises the forces and emotions with regard to this event. The variety of colors represent great excitement. The purple, yellow and green fields are about luxury, energy, sun and money. This is overshadowd by the red and black which represent the fraud and mystery.
