When drawing, I am in a meditative state, in my "inner space". I work slowly, concentrated. And this also transfers to the effect on the viewer. At first glance this drawing, as well as its counterpart, 4|8|18 [helldunkel] is a simple exploration of the circle and of two different shades of grey. But the longer you watch it, the more you start to feel its silence and its contemplative nature.
These two works do not necessarily belong together, but it may be an interesting experience to see the reaction of different grades of darkness: The lighter half circle in this drawing is exactly the same degree of pencil hardness as the darker half in the other one.
