Artist Statement
These are two separate 24 x 18 inch ( 45 x 60 cm) prints sold for the one price. Together without framing they measure 24 x 36 inches (60 x 91 cm).
All my hand-printed botanical cyanotypes are made from living plants and are one-of-a-kind. There is no etched plate, carved block, ink or printing press to reproduce what you see.
Though this looks like a screen print, this monotype is actually a kind of 19th century lensless photography, a cyanotype. What you see up close are three overlapping images of the same flower, creating varying shades of blue. This is a multiple exposure photograph of a freshly cut agapanthus from my garden in California.
