Artist Statement
I live across the San Francisco Bay and often hike the high hills that look down upon it. Depending on the season, cloud coverage, my distance, and the time of day, the very same water can look a hundred different shades of blue. There are about seven layers that comprise this painting of colors showing through transparent layers of different colors. The thin translucent veils of glazes in various blue hues allow the under layers to be seen. Both sponges and sponge brushes were used to paint the stripes in the smoothest way possible.
This painting arrives ready to hang, with a wire on the back, on stretched canvas with the 1.5 inch deep sides painted a clean white.
