Artist Statement

IconCaretDown

This work was based on Geometric Abstractionism but with a more modern and broad vision, seeking a parallel between design, architecture and graphic design, tools widely used by the Bauhaus school.
The movement of the façade seeks to capture the viewer's vision and launch it into an individual and sensory reality.

Artist Profile

Hometown: Cachoeira do Sul

Based in: São Paulo

Cristina Bergamo was born in Brazil and started her artistic life through theater, attended the University of Scenic Arts of São Paulo and in the late 90's moved to Italy where she continued her studies at the University of Music of Rome.
Cristina is a self-taught artist who develops a work in the scope of Geometric Abstraction and Visual Arts, and is inspired and deeply interested in the Constructivist movement, the Suprematism of the Russian vanguard of the beginning of the 20th century, and Neoplasticism. She was also strongly influenced by the German "Bauhaus" school of art, architecture and design, mainly for its minimalist look at modern architecture and the modernist industrial design objects created from this movement.
We can say that she presents in her work a free transit between these universes that are translated through colors and basic geometric shapes, mainly the square and the circle, besides photographing architectural structures and modernist design objects and mixing them with other elements creating her own dialectics that communicate her vision of the world and her correlation with the whole.
She uses photography, digital techniques, and graphic design to bring colors, volumes, graphic and photographic cutouts to his works, and in this process he is particularly interested in the illusion of three-dimensionality that results from his compositions.
Her intention with art is to lead the viewer to a sensorial perception and awareness of observing the same object or scene from different angles and connecting it with their inner world, often bringing tridimensinality and movement to the center of the discussion.
"I consider music, theater and abstract art to be nuances of the same artistic expression, I hear the sound and movement in colors, just as I see the shapes in musical notes to compose a single work."
