Part of my paint splodge seriesof drawings, this piece presents a splodge of paint fresh from the tube. Highlighting its almost jewel like quality, this piece elevates and finds beauty in the seemingly mundane, creating a meditative sense of calm.
Using coloured pencil the layers are built up from dark to light, tricking the eye creating a very tactile three dimensional artwork.
Bringing a smile to the viewer and joy to a space this piece seeks to trigger happy emotions and enhance the environment it occupies. Creating a sense of calm and tranquility with its use of negative space.

In his works Daniel uses the medium of coloured pencil to exemplify the fire and lustre of precious stones. His work progresses to uncover that same jewel like iridescence and shine that can be found in more humble subject matter such as splatters of paint, finding beauty in the seemingly mundane. The realism in his work is offset and accentuated by the introduction of human figures finding a surrealism in the real.
