Limited series of unique prints, each edition uses UV curable ink printed on hand-made rag paper out of recycled cotton rags. The effect is a rough, textured surface combined with a minimal & cerebral image. Each uneven surface of the paper causes micro-errors in each print that ensures each edition is entirely unique. My intention is to subtly intervene in the printing process of the UV industrial printers, articulating the human in the machine. Together, these methodical ingredients fuse independent conceptual interests of the mine into a singular delicate and yet nuanced form.

David Hanes (b. 1987) is a visual artist. He originally hails from Toronto, Canada, and now lives in Berlin, Germany. His work ranges from drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. And, as a continued student of both the classic antiquities as well as modern technology, David brings unique perspective and mindfulness into his daily approach to both art-making, as well as living with gratitude. After learning about Robert Rauschenberg’s "Erased de Kooning Drawing" (1953) at an early age, his understanding of art was totally annihilated. As a consequence, he began—decades later—working on heavily altered & symbolic images that occupy the border between abstraction, representation, and iconography. His work comes with a mixture of enthusiasm and unease, questioning how art is experienced in an age of digital stimulation and spiritual abandonment. Hanes' augmented idea of art seems to tell a story of resistance, beauty and erasure, always probing the viewers' imagination and openness in search of new images.
