Dmitry Zakunov is a contemporary photographer who works in the style of “chronophotography” which implements an artistic method of frame-by-frame observation of an object, creating an artistic space where a time interval is shown in a single frame. In his authentic artworks, the inevitable deformation of the model's image takes place along with deconstruction where realism is getting lost, and new forms appear and convey the state of sleep, hallucinations, deformation and recreation of reality according to new patterns. Dmitry was born in 1986 and studied photography at the University of New Mexico, USA, where he was highly inspired by the artworks of Joel Peter Witkin and Patrick Nagatani, who studied and worked at UNM. Dmitry also takes his inspiration from the art by Havi Bow, Alexey Titarenko, Jan Schwankmeier, Paul Schneggenburger, Peter Greenaway, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and David Lynch.
