Artist Statement

"Having a favorite color is one thing. Having a favorite pattern because it shimmers in the sunlight on a walk with your best friend is the other thing. Combining the two with a drink in mind is key."

There are two ladies in this picture. They are wearing extravagant clothes, patterned and with exciting hats. Their faces are covered with with white paint, only their mouths and red cheeks are visible. They stand in an empty scene facing the viewer.

The series "Up And Down Goes The Economy" draws inspiration from the aesthetic fabric of the 1950s. The fashion of the time just like a color palette inspired by it is reflected in the works. In addition, there is an ironic examination of the values of this era: on the one hand, the naive thought of consumption and growth, on the other hand, the perception of women in society.
