Artist Statement
Dominique Chapuis uses square monochrome as the basis for her search for a balance in the present. She creates predefined geometric shapes through the precise superposition of strips of paper of different widths. Ideograms of a new language, the elements glide over the surface of the painting to exceed the margins. Dominique Chapuis's practice therefore fits into the tradition of concrete art while exceeding its limits.
