Artist Statement
In this artwork, a large piece of white silk suspends from the top of a wooden frame taken from an artist canvas.
The minimal assembly of the two elements that conform "The Waterfall" allows the natural colour of the textile material to be affected by the airflow of the room in which the piece is presented and the viewer's position in relation to the artwork.
The artwork's title alludes to the silk's visual resemblance to the flow of a free-falling water stream, a picturesque characteristic that is also reinforced by the frame's own vertical orientation.
The piece belongs to a series of three "fashion landscapes", where a single element of fashion is used to convey the notion of a place or a scenery.
"Is a fashion painting just the act of taking fashion and appreciating it as a painting: colour, form and texture?" This was one of the answers to the question "What is a fashion painting?", the creative brief I assigned to myself for Vogue Singapore's March "Creativity" issue.

Having worked in the creative industry for a decade, Eduardo Enrique had his first foray into the visual arts when he was propelled by a strong urge to produce artworks as a form of social commentary. Drawing from his background as a Creative Director where he motivates his clients to understand the underpinnings of culture and its societal impacts, his artistic praxis similarly calls attention to the nuances that pop culture can have on the human psyche.
The artist explicitly denies talking about his nationality, as he maintains that one should not be judged based on their geographical origin. To that end, Eduardo looks towards elucidating universal human conditions as he believes that there are intrinsic qualities that connect us beyond borders and boundaries.
