"And She Flies" is an original painting on a deep canvas, that can be hung directly onto the wall.
For me paintings have always been a metaphor for emotions. And I am always interested in how they make you feel.
As Mark Rothko said "A painting is not a picture of an experience, but is the experience."
I have started a new series of work, using soft natural colours and metallics, and strong lines. I have been considering the conflict of energy and calm. They are direct big bold spaces, but there is also an undercurrent of emotional and kinetic energy, that creates delicacy and nuance.
I am so excited by this new painting. I love the bold white line that cuts through the composition. And I love the soft neutral grey tones that create a soft undercurrent of energy. I also love the cheeky kick of lilac.

I use a range of materials; paint, pencil, fabric, collage, metallics, and build up my paintings in a very organic way. I overlay layers of paint, mark and collage to build up the pictorial space. I use bold blocks of colour that are soft, sensual and striking.
My paintings have a directness, using straight lines, and an off kilter symmetry. But within that it holds a sensuous quiet warmth that nourishes and feeds the viewer on an emotional level.
"I want to create beautiful spaces. I see my paintings existing like music or poetry. They are visual experiences to be felt on an emotional level. I believe in the power of ART to lift and transcend. Using an abstract language of mark making that is both personal and universal. I believe that visual language has a potent power, like music or literature. And it has the power to lift, communicate and transform."
