Artist Statement
KEEPSAKE is an original painting on a deep 4cm canvas. This can be hung directly onto the wall.
This is part of a new series of work. I wanted to use bold blocks of natural colour that command attention. I balance these with fine lines, and strong intersections, creating a strong dynamic composition. I aim to balance this strength with a softness, and nuance. To me, this shows gentleness and vulnerability.
The painting is soft, sensual and striking. It has a directness, using straight lines, and an off kilter symmetry. But within that it holds a sensuous quiet warmth that nourishes and feeds the viewer on an emotional level.

I use a range of materials; paint, pencil, fabric, collage, metallics, and build up my paintings in a very organic way. I overlay layers of paint, mark and collage to build up the pictorial space. I use bold blocks of colour that are soft, sensual and striking.
My paintings have a directness, using straight lines, and an off kilter symmetry. But within that it holds a sensuous quiet warmth that nourishes and feeds the viewer on an emotional level.
"I want to create beautiful spaces. I see my paintings existing like music or poetry. They are visual experiences to be felt on an emotional level. I believe in the power of ART to lift and transcend. Using an abstract language of mark making that is both personal and universal. I believe that visual language has a potent power, like music or literature. And it has the power to lift, communicate and transform."
