Artist statement
Each portrait is a riot of colour and energy. Behind the deliberate conventionality, sometimes even decorative nature of the writing, the viewer can discern an original interpretation of familiar images, a delicate structure of intertwined symbols and an amazing, intuitively appealing sense of colour.
Lena creates her paintings not so much from external features as from her own feelings, from the perception of a particular person or character that inspired her.
