Ella Jean Holland was born on March 16, 1998 in Leerdam, The Netherlands. She spent the first years of her life in Hamburg, Germany. Born into a creative family, including painters and actors, she showed a natural interest in acting and creating artwork.
Typical for her abstract work are the use of coarse textures, as well as impressive color arrangements. Her work is very tactile and inspired by nature, its materials and what they evoke, and the beauty of decay as seen in abandoned buildings and ancient cities. She uses techniques that are changing the work under different light conditions and perspectives, e.g. the use of deep structures and metallic paint.
Ella studied Theatre Arts in Santa Barbara, California before returning to The Netherlands in 2021. She now lives in the coastal village of Noordwijk, a town that has attracted artists through the ages that were inspired by its unspoiled beauty.
