Artist Statement
Trumpets is the third painting in a series that takes inspiration in musical rhythms. Eliciting a strong and dynamic composition, the geometric elements reflect deconstructed pianokeys that form a lucid, rhythmic and rather integrated horizontal flow. To contrast the flow, a second compositional element is included that is rather vertical than horizontal. It represents the inclusion of a second musical instrument into a larger ensemble, contrasting its tonality.
