Artist Statement

This painting is the third canvas in a new series that is liberating for me. This series that I call “Post-Abstraction” is a new direction that I am taking and which inspires me. It breaks with my previous master's work and differs from my “Abstraction” series with vibrant colors and geometric shapes. After several months of introspection on my art, this pictorial genre is a new wind that lives in me. I feel that I find a freedom in painting by the gesture and the mixed mediums. I am more in tune with my emotions and I integrate music into my creative process. I paint in a faster and more instinctive way while keeping the textures and color transparencies visible. The Sea that Divides Us is a personal canvas that captivates us with its deep and transparent blues. This painting has a great softness, but also a strength of character. This painting leaves room for great evocative possibilities.
