Artist Profile

Evgenia Makarova's abstract works are multi-layered and expressive: she drips paint, draws lines and mixes different materials, ink and acrylic, oil, markers and spray. She obscures any material reference points, allowing the viewer to discover new sense in her works.
"My artwork focuses on the study of emotions and moods. It is a combination of my feelings at the moment I've been drawing, expressed on paper or canvas. Emotion captured in color, shape, texture. At the same time, it is a process of various experiments with materials and tools. I prefer using unpredictable tools at hand, its allow me to create interesting and unexpected combinations. The main attention in my works I pay not to the senses and forms but to the process itself, inasmuch it is always improvisation. I never know in advance what kind of image I will create as well as I do not know upcoming composition or color scheme. The result is always unpredictable."
