Red Thistle (composition №83)
Prickly and inaccessible savage, choosing the most uncomfortable habitats, red Thistle combines incongruous-lifeless and dull leaves and stems with luxurious, blazing red cadmium flowers. Perhaps they serve as a reward for the eyes of a tired traveler who ventured into the wasteland for such a sight.
In the picture, you can imagine bright red thistle flowers, painted with light impasto against the background of a rich grayish-blue evening sky with silver and gold glimpses, creating a sense of depth as well as vision of fields shrouded in night fog. Here, the hot desert sun had already set, leaving behind only these flowers blazing in the night.
Linen canvas, gesso and acrylic paints. Coated with an archival-quality protective satin varnish. Mounted on a stretcher frame.
Painted with a plastic card and a palette knife.
Sides are painted.
