Artist Statement
Prism is one of several recent paintings in which I explore progressions of color, as in the color spectrum. The grids are inspired by mandalas, kaleidoscopes and architecture. I enjoy the intimacy with color and its universality.

Artist Profile
Born: 1961
Hometown: Dallas
Based in: Mount Pleasant
I come from New Jersey and was raised in Rhode Island. I became serious about art in my teens and wanted to be a graphic designer. I studied art and so much more at Hartford Art School – University of Hartford, in Connecticut from 1979 - 1983. My first professional gig came in 1984 at a small design shop in Manhattan. In 1990 I moved to Dallas, TX where my career as a designer and art director flourished for another thirty years.
The first abstract painting I created was in Y2K. Over the next ten years I painted and exhibited frequently while continuing my career in the graphic arts. In 2018 I put my career aside and moved to rural northeast Texas where I spend my time being creative.
I like to work in different mediums, mainly pencil, acrylic and watercolor. I have also carved stone, clay and wax as I enjoy creating three-dimensional things.
Many of my paintings present a structured order that is like code waiting to be deciphered by the viewer. To me these paintings express the rhythmic and infinite stream of subconscious thought. More recent paintings feature geometric patterns that are designed to immerse the viewer in color and lead to a place of contemplation and introspection.
Currently my creative work centers on a series of watercolor illustrations that will accompany a story inspired by the natural environment around me.
