Artist Statement
The assignment of the three primary colors red, yellow, and blue to square, triangle, and circle, which was characteristic of the Bauhaus is also found in Mader's oeuvre in synesthetic form and combines a modern visionary paradigm with innovative contemporary painting.

Artist Profile
Hometown: Munich
Based in: Munich
Gerlinde Mader was born in Kempten, studied graphic design at the Augsburg
University of Applied Sciences, had her own graphic studio for years and illustrated
children's books. The freelance artist, who has already received great recognition for
her works in international exhibitions, always works on the threshold between
abstract imagery and figurative elements that intertwine with each other.
In her works, the artist questions our existence in its relationship to nature, religion
and philosophy. The classical themes of mythology are as much a part of her
extensive oeuvre as large-scale abstract worlds, graphics and intimate portraits. The
paintings are convincing with their superimposed structures, which irritate each other
and increase to intense sounds. Specific colors, self-made from pigments, binders,
from earths, metals, marble dust of gold, combine to form a multi-layered unity of
diverse pictorial elements. In the interplay of spontaneously impulsive, experimental
work and conscious design, a new reality emerges.
