Painting from the series Unreliable memoirs. In “Unreliable memoirs”, the Artist explores memories of her childhood creativity in tandem with her current art practice.
Working with water based oil, charcoal, soft pastel and sometimes acrylic, the paint is applied with a pallet knife, cloth, sponge, or even fingers. Parr works with immediacy, sometimes by pouring water and then blurring with a large brush, often drawing into the paint with a freedom of gut to hand expression. Whilst painting, she is completely immersed in the process, building a reverberating relationship with the canvas, a push and pull of spontaneity and controlled intention where she explores the line between dynamic gestural marks and detailed concentrated drawing. The process leads to an almost meditative state between her subconscious and the canvas surface.
The painting is signed on the deep edge of the canvas and ready to hang.
Based in: Exmouth Devon and East London
