Dutch-born Gusta van Dobbenburgh is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and of the Association of Botanical Artists of The Netherlands (VBKN). She studied from 2002-2006 with Mindy Lighthipe, then-time director of the illustrations program at the New York Botanical Garden and works in water color, gouache, egg tempera, colored and graphite pencil.
In 2004 she was a silver finalist in the Winter Art Show juried by the Summit Art Institute, NJ, USA. She received an honorable mention for her entire collection in the International Contemporary Art Gallery Online Competition in 2016 and was recently awarded three months of international sponsoring, Spring/Summer 2022, by the Thomson Gallery (Zug, London).
Gusta van Dobbenburgh's work has been published on the cover of The Connection Magazines, March 2006 and in The Still Point Arts Quarterly, 2016, 2017, 2022, USA. She produced her own Botanicalendar, 2010, 2020. She also contributed to the Gate Posts with No Gate art and poetry book-project by American poet Peter Waldor, 2018, and illustrated a series of articles on permaculture for the Dutch outdoor magazine Buitenleven, The Netherlands, 2018-2019.
Gusta has been showing, selling and licensing her art internationally in group and private shows, for special projects and on private commissions since 2004. She participated in the international botanical shows at the Floricultural Pavillion and the Apothecary Garden in Moscow, March 1-31, 2022 and was digitally represented at te Art Eindhoven fair, April 9-10, 2022. During May, June and July 2022 she will be digitally represented in the Lelie Galerij, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the Urbanside Gallery, Zurich and the Thomson Gallery, Zug, Switzerland and the Biennale ARTBOXY Expostion in Venice, Italy.
