Artist Profile
Born: 1962
Hometown: Porto Alegre
Based in: Porto Alegre
I started the wood carving when I was 8 years old, in the Artistic Education classes. I produced many works in this technique for several years. At the age of 21, in Porto Alegre (capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), I received an invitation from sculptor Guma¹ to attend his studio. I entered the three-dimensional, which gave me a greater possibility of expression of forms and feelings. Soon after that, I entered the art gallery market and was awarded in art salons. In 1994, I executed my first works in marble, so I was invited by Xico Stockinger² to attend his studio and share sculptural experiences.
I continued researching new stones, tools and accessories to improve performance and add beauty and quality to my work. The colors of marbles, basalt, granite, quartz, agate, iron, diabasis and other rocks provide amazing results between the texture and the polished, between the shapes and the voids of the sculptures. The mixture between small and large works allows me to supply the market demand, which demands quality and fair price.
From 2012 on, I adapted my studio to prioritize the production of medium and large sized sculptures in order to supply the demand for real estate projects in the south and southeast of Brazil. In Porto Alegre I already have 40 works installed, which meet the purpose of beautifying the city and the buildings where they are installed.
