Hiroshi Jashiki is a print/textile artist from Okinawa, a chain of islands situated between Japan, Taiwan, and China. Jashiki studied arts and crafts, including traditional Okinawan textiles, at Ryukyu University. He earned an MFA in Fiber Art from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Over the next twenty years, Jashiki worked as an apparel and textile designer in New York City.
In his print work, Jashiki employs textile software as a tool to create images inspired by nature, Okinawa, and New York among other influences. He has shown at galleries in New York, Michigan, and Okinawa, where his textiles and prints are in the collection of the Contemporary Art Museum. Recent projects include a series of prints for Rihga Royal Gran Hotel and large lobby pieces for Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort.
