Based in: Kanazawa, Japan
Hirotake IMANISHI was born in Nara, Japan. He received Ph.D. in molecular biology from University of Tsukuba in 2012. After leaving grad school at University of Tsukuba in 2012 he started to study basic skills of ceramic at Shigaraki Ceramic Research Institute. His career change as ceramic artist was affected by his father, Ceramic artist Masaya IMANISHI.
At institute he studied traditional potter’s wheel technique of Shigaraki and learned basic knowledge of clay and glaze, kiln firing. After two years of study, he moved to Ishikawa prefecture to study Kutani pottery technique such was over glaze painting. He also learned in Kanazawa College of Art as Degree student.
His work is produced with the theme of "biological fundamental power".
