Hyunju Kim explores issues related to the subconscious, memory, and feeling through the process of painting. She holds a BA in International Studies from National Korea Maritime University, Busan, South Korea. After moving to the United States, she received a Post-Baccalaureate degree and an MFA in Contemporary Art Practice from Portland State University. Her work has been shown in various galleries and juried art exhibitions including the Autzen Gallery in Portland, OR, and Core Gallery in Seattle, WA.
She is a recipient of Laurels Graduate Award; winner of Allied Arts Association MFA visual art competition; a recipient of purchase award from Seattle’s Office of Arts and Culture. Currently lives and works nomadically in South Korea.
