Artist Statement
Taken just after the start of the first Lockdown in the UK when I wanted a bit of joy in my life! I had tried photographing a Camellia when it was perfect and for me it just didn't work. By April the Camellias were all starting to turn so I tried again. This time it was right because there was brown fringing to the very edge of the petals and a slightly world weary look to the flower. I loved the pink fleshiness and the variegations running through the petals, still so beautiful despite the onset of ageing.
