The artwork 'series nine / 2' results from an analog process using copper and a corroding process to explore an "uncontrolled" painting-like surface, photographed and digitally processed, which is new to my art practice. Using mostly natural materials like stone, copper, bitumen, concrete, wire, wood, textile and wax, found on construction sites or in my everyday environment, I try to challenge the material. Departing from an intuitive approach I transform the material into a body, a structure or surface, where material and shape relate one another - be it elegant, minimalist or raw.

Artist Profile

Hometown: Salzburg

Based in: Salzburg

Irmi Moser is a designer and artist whose practice includes spatial design, sculpture, textile design, drawing and print. She combines analog and digital processes and focuses on architecture and its layers as a context for environments and structural forms. Using mostly natural materials like stone, copper, bitumen, concrete, wire, wood, textile and wax - found on construction sites or in her everyday environment - she tries to challenge the material, transforming it into a body, a structure or surface, where material and shape relate one another - be it minimal, graceful or raw.
Irmi‘s background as a designer in Textile, Architecture and Interior with more than 30 years experience while living and working in Paris, Berlin and briefly in London and San Francisco has enriched her work as a University lecturer and Design school teacher. She is now concentrating fulltime on her personal artwork.
She has received grants from the Fondation de France in Paris and awards from the Ministry of Education and Science in Vienna. Most recently, works were shown in the group exhibition of the International Summer Academy of Salzburg and in the Kunstquartier/art district Salzburg. An exhibition at The Fitzrovia gallery London where her work is part of a group show is on view in 08/21 . The artwork 'in light and in dark' has been part of a private view at Saatchi gallery London curated by Focus Artfair in 08/21.
