In his book “De Anima” (c. 350 BC), Aristotle explains, "It follows that the soul is analogous to the hand; for as the hand is a tool of tools, so the mind is the form of forms and sense the form of sensible things." Hands are tools themselves by which we are able to utilize tools, in a similar way that the mind is a form by which we apprehend other forms. The artist’s hand brings forth life and love and lust.
