Artist Statement
Fizzy, bubbly, frothy, sugary, caffeinated, carbonated, thirst quenching sodadorinku, oh how I love thee! You turn the most lackluster, dull, somber affair into a sparkling, dazzling, lively event. My favorite sound in the entire world is that “crack, pop, hiss”, makes my heart skip a beat every single time. Oh, and the flavors, THE FLAVORS! Lemon pineapple, salty watermelon, peach tangerine, pink lemonade, how am I ever supposed to choose just one? The moment our lips touch is an instant refreshing, electrifying sensation that energizes my entire body. As a matter of fact, this reminds me of the popular Chinese New Year tradition of eating tang hulu (糖葫芦) and sweet treats such as White Rabbit candy (大白兔奶糖), sticky rice cakes filled with peanuts, flaky egg custard tarts, candied nuts and seeds, in hopes to sweeten the upcoming new year. As the saying goes, sweet food equals a sweet life! So, with multiple vending machines adorning every corner, and thousands of flavors it’s not so hard to add some happiness into your life.
