Artist Statement
“Just remember, once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed.” - Arthur Schopenhauer
Welcome to driving 101 where we teach you everything you need to know to drive just like a local (and nothing more)! First things first, ditch your seatbelt! It is essential to be unrestrained, fully uninhibited, and FREE to properly maneuver a motor vehicle through Via del Corso. Drive on the right side of the road, and you MUST remember, right turns during red lights are ALWAYS illegal...unless of course you can hit the pedal at FULL FORCE! Here’s another tip, if someone is blocking your way simply roll down your window and say "VAFFANCULO!". They’ll know what it means. Ah I see now you’re getting the hang of it, it’s not that complicated. Merely a series of high-speed decisions...swerve left! Turn right! Increase the speed overtaking all the slow-moving piaggio apes (vespacar) at Via dei Fori Imperiali! MAMMA MIA! Stay HOT on your toes and NEVER look in the rear-view mirror. Stay focused on what’s coming ahead. Following the concept of “the arrow of time” as developed by British astrophysicist Arthur Eddington, time moves in a ONE-WAY forward direction. The asymmetry of time is what makes the past disparate from the future. And that’s exactly where we’re headed at FULL SPEED ahead! What’s that old cliché? When in Rome, do as the romans do? So, lean in closer and follow my lead!
