Most people know that the Chinese invented gunpowder, few are aware though that they probably invented the gun itself. Around 1000 AD, the Chinese began using a bamboo tube with gunpowder to shoot spears effortlessly at high speeds. Some time during the ensuing couple of centuries, gunpowder slithered its way into Europe, precipitating the invention of our earliest know modern handgun in Otepää, Estonia in 1396. Blood, war, sex, yadda yadda yadda for a couple of hundred years and then Richard Gatling invented an automatic firing weapon in 1860 during the American civil war. Yadda yadda, more blood, then the first sub-machine gun was made during World War I, then assault rifles during world war II. It wasn’t until World War III that the pulse blaster was invented, again changing the nature of the way people fight wars. World War IV saw the necessary invention of wet weapons, as our suddenly ocean covered planet required. Galactic Wars number I and II were when things really got interesting for weapons though, that's when they invented mind guns, consciousness and memory blasters, and of course that little black one that became so famous.
