Artist Statement
Ivo Alvarone is a color painter. His paintings are based on the intensity of color and the contrasts of juicy colors. The artist plays with their juxtapositions. Weaves them into charming and unpretentiously intense, unique ranges. The richness of textures that the artist obtains in watercolors proves the unique painting technique. The artist does not create obvious landscapes, he suggests, allows for interpretation and free reception. This is due to his vision of nature, which we postulate as impressions. In the series of watercolors of Linear Landscapes, Robert Lardus translated his approach to form and color into very abstract compositions. The artist urges us to open the gates to the imagination. In this way, it presents us with a perverse view of the natural world, which we consider to be beautifully rich. We perceive it as a general beauty, but we pay little attention to detail. This multiplication of the simplification of natural beings is purposeful in Ivo Alvarone.
The artist wants to draw our attention to the changeability of the landscape. Depending on the time of day, weather, season - the landscape changes. That is why we usually perceive it in a moment, we do not study in time, we do not admire the changeability of forms. Artist Profile
Hometown: Piedmont
Based in: Piedmont
Ivo Alvarone born in the Italian Piedmont, at five Ivo moved with his family to Bologna. Initially, at the suggestion of his father, a medievalist with a passion for art, he began studying art history. After a year he felt too confined, disappointed and gave up. Ivo Alvarone traveled extensively through Europe, sketching landscape, painting watercolors and enjoying a happy-go-life time. Then, as he promised to his father, Ivo resumed studies. This time at the faculty of painting. During his studies, he became vividly interested in the philosophy of transhumanism which pushed him, in an indirect but very logical way, into being an active member of the pro-nature movement in his community.
In his watercolors and drawings, he takes the viewer into his own world of nature. Nature being his preferred subject. His unique technique consists of a subtle and slowly deepening mixture of overlapping form that conveys his sensitivity.
Ivi Alvarone lives and works in a small studio, shying away from big exhibitions, prefers to confine to a private, small, audience that follows his experiments with true interest.
