Before dinner began, napkins were on the table like small sculptures.
I made sketches and later worked them out in the studio.

Based in: Delft
In 1998 I graduated in sculpture at the Willem de Kooning Academy, the art school of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The sculptures are often about the human body and mind, movement is a recurring theme.
Material and the meaning of material have always been important to me, the sculptures are made very precisely, I enjoy learning new techniques when needed.
Besides sculpting, I draw a lot and try to get better at it.
In my drawings I look for the boundaries between figuration and abstraction.
I use the color and structure of the paper, which gives the drawing a grin which evokes a certain atmosphere that I am looking for. I try to avoid hard pencil lines, separations are made by means of fixed light and shadow. In a drawing I use all soft pencils from 2b to 9b so I can make the most beautiful gray and deepest black.
