Artist Statement
This painting is inspired by microscopic other-worlds and the random patterns of nature like rain drops on a path or window. There are gentle drifts, ebbs and flows across the surface of the artwork, which are created by fluid paint and random splashes and drips in the background. It is a very neutral palette but there are muted pastel blues, pinks and greys infused into the background too.
The organic shapes and motifs Jacquelyn uses allude to pulsating growth formations, cellular life forms and to the beautiful otherworldliness of the microscopic building blocks of life. The variation in the size, shape and transparency of the forms in this painting moves our eyes attention in and out of focus across the picture plane. The artist’s intention is that your eyes get to explore and discover subtle hidden shapes and patterns within the painted surface.
The ultimate aim of this painting is to create a kind of poetic peacefulness. A sense of harmony and joy on the walls they hang on and for those who view them.
