Before photography was invented, portraiture was the method through which humans gazed and recorded other contemporary humans, and finding interest in this, I appropriated the format of portraiture as the system of recording existences. During day, I gathered faces on the street with my drawing, as if I was facing them and collecting them, and later at night I transferred them to painting, and mostly repeated this cycle.

Lives and Works: Seoul
Jaeyeol Han, who was dispatched to Haiti in 2010 when the massive earthquake hit, has found existing but forgotten objects, pay attention to them, and has a keen sense of the Other who cannot be said.
He uses individuals and clusters as a medium to deal with differences, disagreements, conflicts, and issues of power and he carried out Passersby project to organize paintings with the attitude of portraits before photography, based on the post-construction process of objects with collision and harmony.
