Artist Statement
The series Presentimientos was largely the result of a trip to Brazil.I went north to the state of Bahia where the destruction of the Rain Forest was evident everywhere. The importance of the Amazon and the rain forest was already well documented, but it has taken an inordinate amount of time for this to gain widespread currency. Presentimientos in Spanish means foreboding in English and I was filled with dread - I still am. There are several 'layers' to each image and some are incorporated with paintings that have then themselves been photographed.
