Jarrod Riggs was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and later moved to the Sunshine Coast, Australia (2009) where hot summers and warm glowing colours influenced the artist and shaped his later body of work. Studying under landscape painter Scott Christensen, Jarrod spent his formative years portraying Queensland's coastal landscape. Later his focus shifted towards Southern California for its similarities in light and colour whilst discovering its tracts of mid-century architecture and pop iconography that underpins his work today.

With his studio set up on the Sunshine Coast the artist’s emphasis is on rendering the world-famous Southern Californian lifestyle with a focus on modernist architecture and the subtle beauty of familiar environments.

Jarrod Riggs paintings have been exhibited in both solo and group shows, and his work is held in private collections worldwide.
