Artist Statement
This is an installation consisting of 45 x 30cm x 4 panels. It is made up of repeating motifs Wrapping. Unfolding in Paynes Grey and Pyrrole Orange. One is encouraged to arrange the panels in the order and orientation as preferred ie. either landscape or vertical. (The stated size of 70 x 100cm is with a recommended 10cm gap between panels)
Paynes & Pyrrole is an exercise in exploring extreme colour contrast and the subtlety of matt and gloss surface of a single colour.
When painting on timber suface, I often like to reveal the natural beauty and that was the concept when designing the motifs. To have a series of interconnecting triangles while not covering the entire panel with paint.
