Artist Statement
Jean-Pierre Vielfaure was a French postwar and contemporary painter who was born in 1930 in Algeria. He died in April 2015 at the age of 84 in Ivry-sur-Seine.
He left Algeria in 1938 with his parents and from the age of 12 he had learnt to draw, he was a very interesting autodidact. His father died in 1948 and he has to take care of the family. He put a lot of effort and worked hard on his first exhibition that was organised in 1950. Following his first success he had a second exhibition in 1951 and moved in 1952 to Montmartre, the artistic heart of France and perhaps the whole of Europe.
